Many of our members are currenly serving overseas, and I don’t just mean in Iraq. From Japan to Europe and all areas in between, the staff here at MDO would like to know how you celebrated your Thanksgiving. Did you have a traditional turkey and stuffing dinner, or did you mix in a bit of the local cuisine to make it a Thanksgiving to remember?
Did you get to speak to your relatives back in the states? And if you’ve got a child, were they able to speak to loved ones back home?
For our hard fighting members overseas, we hope you had a great Thanksgiving, and don’t let a day go by thinking no one back in the US is thinking about all of you.

So the biggest shopping day (if you’re in the U.S.), the day after Thanksgiving, promises the largest discounts, door-buster deals and once a year savings for avid shoppers. Hundreds of thousands of people pile up on Christmas gifts and believe they are saving a ton of money. But are consumers really getting a bargain? Big retailers like Toys “R” Us, Macy’s, Best Buy and Sears opened early to attract crowds with morning bargains, but is that enough to keep people like you and myself spending more this year?
Let’s face it. People are losing jobs, salaries are cut, bonuses are almost non-existent and the stock market, damn the stock market. I’m not sure about you but this year is a bad year for me in stocks. I did end up spending a few hundred dollars on clothes and electronics but nowhere compared to how much I spent last year. Money is tight this year and heck if I know what will happen in 2008.
So my Black Friday was less than favorable, how was yours? Did you shop a lot this year? What was the best deal you got?

Just in time for the Holidays!
You are probably wondering, hrmm…where are the best places to meet singles this holiday season? While we are not experts at social gatherings, we have a few pointers to get you started
- Church If a Higher Power is a requirement for you, why not look for someone with the same beliefs?
- Everyone’s gotta eat, right? Check out who’s buying the same food and talk ‘em up. Or better yet, find someone purchasing something you don’t know about and ask them how to cook/prepare it.
- Organize an event. Post some flyers around the base announcing a caravan to a local club or historic place. As crazy as it sounds, this actually works. Single people are social
- History buff? There are plenty of things on any base that’ll help you find someone interested in the same. Many bases have museums.
- Do you like a certain TV show? Don’t watch it in your room, instead go find a common area and see who’s watching the same show. If no one, that’s cool. Sit and watch. Someone else may be doing the same thing.
- MWR. Check out the MWR opportunities at the base. There are a lot of things to do – golfing, Frisbee golf, canoe rental, waffle ball and more.
- Shooting range. Interested in guns? What are the chances someone else whose interested in them will be there?
- Bowling Alley. Surely there are some single babes/dudes passing the time (and releasing some aggression) by throwing a heavy ball at non-moving objects. Join in and you may just get a strike.
- Laundromat. With not a lot else to do, many active duty are simply doing chores and other things they need to get finished. What better place to strike up a conversation than over a bottle of Tide?
- And best of all online! If you prefer to stay within the comfort of your fireplace and warm blankets, then online dating sites is the way to go. With the advent of the Internet, there’s no better place to find people on your own base than online. Sites like MilitaryDatingOnline.com specialize in categorizing its members by base and location, as well as likes and dislikes. These sites are becoming more and more popular because members can flirt with each other on their time, and they can upload flirty videos to attract the opposite sex.
Think our list is incomplete? Let us in on some of your best places to meet singles!
P.S. When dating online, posting a photo greatly increases the odds of meeting that special someone!

Welcome!!
Yes, everyone has one, so we figured, we’ll have one too!
Let’s get this out of the way so we can start posting some really cool stuff!
It took us just a little over 2 1/2 months, 78 days, to revamp our dating site for military singles. This site started about 2 years ago when we realized that military dating is a very interesting niche we wanted to learn more about. So my partner and I said, Hey, let’s launch this sucker. So we did. No planning, no budget, no sponsors. Just a domain name, cheap hosting and an idea set to take over the world. Yea right. we got nowhere.
Version 1.0 of the site was filled with fake profiles, spam bots, and crappy member tools. The funny thing was, there were still some real profiles and legit singles using our free service to find love and friendship. So then we knew something was right and we need to fix the wrongs. We learn the hard way that online dating space is filled with fierce competition and people were willing to pay insane amount of cash to join these dating sites. Even with the temptation of monthly fees, we thought our site would attract more people who are really looking for a match but cannot afford to pay $34.99 or even $24.99 per month. Till today, membership at our site remains 100% free. And we are damn proud of it!
About 3 months ago, we decided to completely overhaul the site. Adding new features, new looks, and making it easier to use. In the back of our mind, we never planned to give up on this site. We were just burnt out and didn’t have the resources to get it done. Until that faithful day, when we decided to GET’ER Done!
There were too many people sending us emails asking for help and giving us ideas to improve the service. And when you get so many requests, it is difficult to turn a blind eye. Trust me. These were real people looking for real love and needed a place to call home. And we now provide that. A 100% free dating site for military singles and their admirers.
We hope you enjoy your time with us and let us know how we can make this dating site even better for 2008!
