As you can imagine, the staff here at MDO is constantly working on improvements to our website that will make it easier for our members to find a match. I wanted to take a moment to go over our Tags function, and show you how it can help you find people with similar interests.
On our home page, down on the left, you’ll see the tags listed. Looks like the screen shot at the right.
These words are taken from all the profiles in our database, and then sorted by frequency. The top ‘tags’ are then displayed in that little box. The more often a particular tag shows up in profiles, the bigger it gets on the page. So, for example, ‘reading’ is currently the most popular tag on our site, so it’s the biggest.
Clicking on the tags will reveal to you all the people who have listed this as one of their interests.
The obvious question then becomes - How can I make sure I have the right ‘tags’ listed for myself, so others can find me?
Good question, I’m glad you asked.
Once you’re logged in, click on the ‘My Account’ button in the upper right corner of the page. Then, on that screen, click ‘Edit My Profile’. You’ll get to your profile page. Once here, look right near the top for this box:
Now simply add your interests, each one separated by a comma. Think about all the things that you’d like to have in common with someone, and put it in. We recommend one or two words max, so you’ve got to whittle it down to as few words as possible. Include brand names (like ‘Harley’ or ‘Harleys’) and slang words that only interest-sharing people would understand (like ‘rice grinders’ or ‘foodies’).
Make sure you save your changes, and they’ll automatically be added to our database.
Follow these few steps to get more and more hits on your profile, as well as find others who share your interests.

Women date military men for different reasons. From job security to a hot bod, reasons for dating a soldier goes as far as your imagination can take you. Of course, there are the disadvantages of dating military men but let’s not dwell on the disadvantages today, but rather on all the wonderful reasons why women look to soldiers for a shoulder to cry on.
I will start the list off with as many reasons I can think off:
- super hot bodies they (most LOL) have
- soldiers just look too damn good in uniform (fetish?)
- more courteous
- treat women the way women should be treated
- steady income and career options
- government perks for military members (how true is this?)
- bragging rights (my man is in the Navy, etc)
Well, my list wasn’t as long as I had hoped. So please chime in…I am very sure there are reasons that I have not heard off before

It appears that Google has a soft spot for divorced singles
I did a search on the phrase “divorce singles dating site” - in google and it showed a very unique adwords separator. I don’t know how long Google will keep this on the site - so I took a screen shot to save a part in dating history. See for yourself below.

While we do have a search feature, it is limited to very general criteria and return results from all over the world. While some people may like this feature because they plan to visit the country or city, there are also those who are looking for singles near their hometown, city or base. So what did we do?
We put the control in our users’ (yes you!) hands. In the search page you will now see an extra field “City or Base.” You can choose to enter in the city or military base you want to find singles in and get more targeted results using this option.

We have received hundreds of feedback over the past few months since MilitaryDatingOnline.com re-launched. And let me be the first to say a big “THANK YOU!” to everyone in our community for making this site so successful. Here are a few things that have been added this week - just in time for the holidays.
- You can now add “Height” to your profile. This is a preference that many members say are important. As they want to date someone taller and/or shorter and this is the best way to know before going on a date.
- A new Tutorial section has been created to help our members take better advantage of the site. As well as answer some frequently asked functionality questions.
- A new member forum available to everyone - but only members can participate. Check it out!
- When members sign into their account, you will now see updates for new members who just joined and photo upload updates.
- We’ve also fixed up the backgrounds for those of you that like to customize “beyond the norm”. Your custom backgrounds now shine through between your profile information boxes. Don’t understand? Here’s an example from punkprincess23. Check that out!
That’s all for now. But there is still a lot of work to be done for our community. In the future, we will be adding some interesting and butt-kicking sections to the site. Guaranteed to make online dating super-fun!
Of course, we can’t mention them on the blog, since this is public (never know if our competitors are lurking right? LOL)

The staff here at MDO thinks its very possible for someone to get a date in just 30 seconds on our website (once you’ve done your part). And therein lies the trick - you’ve got to be willing to do some legwork to get there first.
You know the old saying “Rome wasn’t built in a day”, right? Well, same goes for the dating scene. It’s your responsibility to build the correct foundation by uploading pictures (your pictures, ok?), making a great profile, and keeping that profile up to date. Plus, with our newest feature, you can even upload an introduction video to enhance that profile even more!
The more our visitors know about you, the better your odds are for getting a date. If you’ve got a hot profile, people will share it, and soon you’ll be answering emails from tons of military singles that want to go out with you!

We are officially launching our FIRST contest for members. Add a video of yourself to your singles profile and the best video will be our $100 cash prize winner. A winner will be selected once we reach 100 singles videos or more. We will be keeping track of total video uploads on a daily basis.
Simply log into your account, click on the “Upload Video” link in the top navigation, follow the instructions and upload your video to your singles profile. It can take a while if your video file is large. You will be automatically entered into the competition to win $100 once your video is uploaded into your online singles profile page.
Basic Rules:
- Videos showing nudity, rude, harassing, or inappropriate will be automatically deleted and disqualified from the competition.
- Upload videos of yourself and not someone else (let’s keep this real)
- Your video should be around 30 - 45 seconds in length
- HAVE FUN WITH IT! Be creative, it’s your video.
